Aboard Le Soléal

Embark aboard Le Soléal for an expedition through some of Indonesia’s most secluded and naturally spectacular regions.

Beginning and ending in Benoa, Bali, the voyage crosses the Savu and Flores seas to reveal remote islands, untouched coastlines, volcanic landscapes, tropical forests and waters rich with marine life.

Discover the preserved shores of Sumba, where fishing communities and ancestral traditions remain deeply connected to the land and sea. Continue to Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, where Portuguese influences, local culture and a compelling modern history create a distinctive atmosphere.

On Flores, explore Maumere and the 17 Islands Marine Park before entering the UNESCO-listed Komodo National Park, home to the legendary Komodo dragon and one of the world’s richest marine environments.

The journey then continues towards Satonda, a volcanic island distinguished by its crater lake, and Badas, where traditional Sumbawan customs remain part of everyday life. In Saleh Bay, guests may have the opportunity to encounter whale sharks in their natural environment, although wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.

Throughout the voyage, PONANT’s expedition team and naturalist guides will enrich the journey through Zodiac outings, shore visits, presentations and activities adapted to the destination and prevailing conditions.

Swimming and optional scuba diving are also available at selected locations, subject to weather, local regulations and guest qualifications.

Itinerary

Day 1 – 24 November 2026 Benoa, Bali, Indonesia

Embark aboard Le Soléal in Benoa, located on the southern coast of Bali.

Bali is celebrated for its Hindu temples, traditional ceremonies, tropical landscapes and distinctive island culture. Depending on your arrival arrangements, spend time exploring the island before boarding or settle into your stateroom and become acquainted with the ship.

Le Soléal is scheduled to remain in Benoa overnight.

Day 2 – 25 November 2026 Benoa, Bali, Indonesia

Departure: 6:00 PM

Enjoy additional time in Bali before the ship departs in the evening.

Benoa provides access to southern Bali’s beaches, fishing communities and cultural attractions, while the island’s interior reveals terraced rice fields, temples and craft villages.

Return to Le Soléal and begin your expedition eastwards through the Indonesian archipelago.

Day 3 – 26 November 2026 Waikelo, Sumba, Indonesia

Discover Waikelo on the northern coast of Sumba, an island known for its rugged scenery, traditional villages and strong ancestral identity.

The coast along the Savu Sea features fishing settlements, secluded bays, clear-water coves, mangroves and undeveloped beaches. Depending on local and operating conditions, activities may focus on the natural surroundings or encounters with communities that preserve Sumba’s distinctive customs.

Arrival and departure times for this expedition call will be confirmed in the final travel documents.

Day 4 – 27 November 2026 At Sea Aboard Le Soléal

Spend a relaxing day at sea as Le Soléal sails towards Timor-Leste.

Attend lectures and presentations delivered by the expedition team, enjoy panoramic ocean views or relax in the ship’s lounges, pool and wellness areas.

The day also provides time to learn more about the geography, wildlife and communities of the islands ahead.

Day 5 – 28 November 2026 Dili, Timor-Leste

Arrival: 11:30 AM | Departure: 6:00 PM

Arrive in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, set between the island’s central mountains and the Ombai Strait.

The city reflects both its Timorese identity and its history as a former Portuguese colony. Explore local landmarks, cultural sites and neighbourhoods where Portuguese architectural and religious influences remain visible.

Beyond the city, the surrounding region is characterised by forested hills, coral-rich waters and beaches that remain largely outside established tourist routes.

Day 6 – 29 November 2026 Maumere, Flores, Indonesia

Arrival: 12:00 PM | Departure: 6:00 PM

Visit Maumere, the principal town and trading port of the Sikka region on Flores.

The mountainous geography of Flores has helped preserve a remarkable diversity of communities, languages and cultural traditions. Music, dance, weaving and oral storytelling remain important expressions of local identity.

Depending on the programme arranged for the voyage, guests may explore local markets, meet residents or discover traditional villages in the surrounding countryside.

Day 7 – 30 November 2026 17 Islands Marine Park, Flores

Explore the protected waters and island landscapes of the 17 Islands Marine Park near Flores.

The area is known for its small islands, clear tropical waters, coral environments and marine biodiversity. Conditions permitting, the expedition team may arrange Zodiac exploration, swimming, snorkelling or beach activities.

The exact landing point and programme will depend on weather, sea conditions and local permissions.

Day 8 – 1 December 2026 Komodo National Park, Indonesia

Enter the UNESCO-listed Komodo National Park, one of Indonesia’s most extraordinary natural environments.

The park encompasses the volcanic islands of Komodo, Rinca and Padar, together with numerous smaller islands and a vast marine area. Its dramatic landscapes combine dry savannah, rugged hills, white-sand beaches, mangroves and coral-rich waters.

The park is the natural habitat of the Komodo dragon, the world’s largest living lizard. Any shore visit will be conducted under local regulations and with authorised guides.

Wildlife encounters depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

Day 9 – 2 December 2026 Satonda Island, Indonesia, Badas, Sumbawa, Indonesia

Satonda Island, Indonesia

Arrival: 6:30 AM | Departure: 11:15 AM

Discover Satonda, a secluded volcanic island located north of Sumbawa.

Its most distinctive feature is a crater lake set within the island’s steep, forested interior. The surrounding coastline and clear waters also provide opportunities to appreciate the marine environment.

Satonda forms part of the wider Saleh–Moyo–Tambora region, recognised by UNESCO as the SAMOTA Biosphere Reserve.

Badas, Sumbawa, Indonesia

Arrival: 2:30 PM | Departure: 10:00 PM

Continue to Badas, the port serving the greater township of Sumbawa Besar.

Sumbawa’s communities retain a strong cultural identity shaped by local traditions and centuries of influence from neighbouring Sulawesi.

Depending on the final programme, the visit may include traditional weaving, rice-pounding demonstrations, music, dance or a ceremonial welcome in a nearby village.

Day 10 – 3 December 2026 Saleh Bay, Sumbawa, Indonesia

Discover Saleh Bay, a vast marine environment framed by the landscapes of Sumbawa.

The bay forms part of the UNESCO-recognised SAMOTA Biosphere Reserve and supports mangroves, dolphins, dugongs and other marine species.

Saleh Bay is also known for whale sharks. Conditions permitting, guests may have an opportunity to observe these gentle marine giants with the expedition team and local specialists.

Whale sharks are wild animals, and their presence or proximity cannot be guaranteed.

Day 11 – 4 December 2026 Benoa, Bali, Indonesia

Arrival: approximately 7:00 AM

Return to Benoa in the morning and disembark Le Soléal.

Your expedition concludes after ten nights exploring remote islands, protected marine environments, traditional communities and volcanic landscapes across Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

Cruise Departure Point

The voyage begins and ends at Benoa Cruise Port in Bali, Indonesia.

Travelling from Dubai

Direct Emirates flights operate between Dubai International Airport and Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The approximate nonstop flying time is:

  • Dubai to Bali: approximately 9 hrs. 15 mins.–9 hrs. 25 mins.
  • Bali to Dubai: approximately 9 hours

Flight schedules vary by date and should be reconfirmed before ticketing.

Guests should arrive in Bali no later than 23 November 2026, one day before embarkation. This allows time for possible flight delays, immigration procedures and the transfer to the cruise port.

Airport to Benoa Cruise Port

Ngurah Rai International Airport and Benoa Cruise Port are both located in southern Bali.

As a practical planning estimate, allow approximately 30–45 minutes by private car, depending on traffic. Travel can take longer during busy periods.

Final port, terminal, embarkation and luggage instructions will be provided in the travel documents issued before departure.

For the return journey, select a flight that allows sufficient time after arrival, immigration, luggage collection and the port-to-airport transfer.

Guests spend ten nights aboard Le Soléal, an intimate luxury expedition vessel combining French-inspired interiors with the facilities required for remote exploration.

The ship accommodates a maximum of:

Most accommodation categories feature private outdoor space, while selected Deck 3 staterooms have a window or porthole instead of a balcony.

  • The voyage is operated by PONANT aboard Le Soléal and is subject to PONANT’s booking conditions, carrier terms and operational procedures.

  • Travel formalities can change at short notice and must be checked according to each guest’s nationality.
  • Comprehensive insurance covering cancellation, medical treatment, evacuation, repatriation, disruption and luggage is strongly recommended.
  • Guests returning late from independent activities may miss the ship. Le Soléal cannot delay departure for independently arranged tours.
